Rufus charmed his way into my heart and even though I wasn't supposed to get more rats, he followed me home from the pet shop...
He was a sweet little rat, never fighting, being gentle and somewhat energetic.
Then, something terrible happened. My sweet little Rufus freaked out, bit a baby rat to death and later on wounded his friend Benjamin badly. I couldn't see any other way out of it than to put him away. It was a terrible thing that happened, and he behaved strange even for that abnormal behaviour... I still feel that clench in my stomach when thinking of it. Just the week before he had been the sweetest thing you could ever think of, towards babies and towards me. I'll never forget this boy, that was on his way to take a very special place in my heart, but broke it down completely instead, all of a sudden, seemingly on a whim.
I miss the Rufus there was before the incident.
